Travertine

It is one of the most popular and well-known stones in the world, which is provided to applicants (most of them stone cutting factories) in Iran after extraction from mines, in the form of stone cubes. This beautiful and widely used stone is formed in the bed of rivers and caves and is mainly used in the construction industry.  Various mineralogical, petrological and geological researches have shown that calcium, stalagmite and stalactite are among the primary and very important compounds found in this stone.  Iron compounds are the most important elements in the formation and creation of the shapes and waves in travertine stones.

Texture and Structure

Travertine is a semi-crystalline and hard stone that has a porous and sedimentary texture and is mostly found in the depths of hot springs.  A high density stone, travertine is used as a stone for the exterior of buildings, ornamental stone and strengthening of agricultural soils due to its crystalline form.  The most variety of this stone is semi-transparent and its full transparent and shiny types are very rare.  The stone powder obtained from this stone is white in color and will ignite at a temperature of 31 degrees Celsius. This stone is completely soluble in organic and industrial solvents such as hydrocarbons, acetone, phthalates, ethanol and methanol and dissolves in dilute hydrochloric acid.

What are the advantages of travertine stone?

Among the main and most significant advantages of buying travertine stone one can name the beauty, durability, and longevity of travertine.

Due to the presence of pores, this stone naturally acts as an insulator and is a suitable choice to maintain the relative temperature inside the building.

Porosity and many holes in the texture of this stone make the overall weight of the building lighter. The stone also offers high adhesion to the mortar.

It is resistant to sunlight, acid rain, cold and heat.

It has a transparent, natural appearance, in various and very beautiful designs, and gives a stylish and luxurious look to the building.

It is the best option for a combined facade with bricks.

Internal and accessible mines have made it available at a suitable price for the domestic market.
